Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:00 AM): Real Time credit card transactions...any recommendations?

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:01 AM): Entered the room.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:01 AM): So...who's up first today?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:02 AM): Entered the room.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:03 AM): Warning: server looks like it may be acting funny today.....

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:03 AM): Aaah, there we go.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:04 AM): What business are you in Dusty?

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:04 AM): Health/Fitness Trainer and Supplements

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:05 AM): Morning

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:05 AM): Okay, that important, because your rates will vary depending on the kind of business you're in.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:06 AM): Who's handling your e-commerce module on your current site?

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:08 AM): Me...I have a rinky dink secure order form through my ISP

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:08 AM): How many products are you offering at your site (and don't be afraid to plug the URL here)?

Bruce (2/22/99 9:09 AM): Entered the room.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:10 AM): Currently about 30 but it is being overhauled and there will be 100+ on the new one...the current one is and the new has /test on the end of that

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:12 AM): If you have a shopping cart, whoever developed that should have a relationship with a clearing company. Most turnkey outfits do. Otherwise, have you tried icat or viaweb? They're both pretty good about that.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:12 AM): icat used to have a program where your first 10 products were free.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:14 AM): Muhammad, you have anyone you like to recommend?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:14 AM): Or Chaz?

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:14 AM): Actually, Viaweb was absorbed by Yahoo, & you have to get your own online merchant account. Its just a secure order form.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:14 AM): I'm trying out cool cart for a free spin and am being set up through in association with I haven't looked into the 2 you mentioned

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:15 AM): Well, you're always going to have to supply your own merchant account, but that's a banking issue, not a web transaction matter.

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:15 AM): is pretty good, you can use the online terminal to process cards from people who call or fax them in....It does checks too.

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:15 AM): is pretty good, you can use the online terminal to process cards from people who call or fax them in....It does checks too.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:15 AM): I know viaweb was bought by Yahoo, but I don't know that they've dumped their transaction business

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:16 AM): They are online merchant accounts though, you can work with an E-commerce exchange.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:16 AM): Entered the room.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:16 AM): Hello Everyone, Rob, hope everything is going great.

Muhammad( (2/22/99 9:17 AM): We're a viaweb/yahoo partner to make online stores for people, we were told that they just have a secure order form that accepts the credit card information, but the don't process anything.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:17 AM): Ask Jacob who he uses for, who's a good credit card clearing house for Dusty? Who do you use for mobhits?

Ira Pasternack (2/22/99 9:17 AM): Entered the room.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:18 AM): My client only has an offline merchant account that all orders are sent online to.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:18 AM): Okay, here come the sure to ask Ira, too.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:18 AM): But I can highly recommend Mike Tingle at Mind The Store for great online credit card services

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:19 AM): My question is this: Will I have to set up a separate order form for each supplement or service I provide?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:20 AM): That's true. I'm working with Mike on a FrankelBiz project. And I recently steered a client there, too. Good thought Jacob. Dusty, write to and tell him Rob Frankel sent you.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:20 AM): And don't forget to mention that Jacob Shwirtz reminded Rob Frankel!

Jacob (2/22/99 9:20 AM): Dusty, you should not have to set up separate forms for each service.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:20 AM): The way Mike has it set up is that you can create your own store on their site or just forward your data to their processing center. You will have to hook up your SKU's one time, though.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:21 AM): And don't forget to mention that Rob Frankel has recommended Jacob Shwirtz.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:21 AM): I already set up a separate form for the supplements but I don't think they will fly with any shopping cart system I choose.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:22 AM): Thank you Rob, nice save!

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:22 AM): Steve, did you have something you wanted to yak about?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:22 AM): Dusty, resign yourself to spending some time setting it up. But it shouldn't be too painful.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:23 AM): Ooooooo

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:24 AM): Come on Dusty, be a good solider. No tears now....

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:25 AM): Hey, is Tom Lyons still here? Signed on at 7:30 this morning but is still showing up in the Guest box.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:26 AM): Okay, who's up next?

Jacob (2/22/99 9:28 AM): Well, I just want to say that this is such a great resource, I've met so many great people and made really cool contacts. Kudos Rob!

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:28 AM): By the way...anyone in this forum who wants a free autographed copy of my book, email me and say you were in this chat and I'll send it to ya...but you have to go to

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:29 AM): Thanks, Jacob. Wait 'til you see what we're up to next!

Jacob (2/22/99 9:29 AM): The world revolves around contacts and that's what I see this list as being all about.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:30 AM): Yup. And we're just about to launch a service for the FrankelBees, that will allow them t set up their own stores and affiliate programs for almost free.

Jacob (2/22/99 9:31 AM): that sounds great Rob. One day you'll really go far in this world, keep it up, doing good!

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:31 AM): So very soon, you'll be able to announce your business to the FrankelBees and direct them to your own affiliate program at one URL. Total turnkey.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:32 AM): This will allow people like Dusty to announce to the list and then have the FrankelBees go to his (her?) affiliate site and earn commissions sending Dusty business.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:34 AM): That's too cool!

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:34 AM): That's probably a good reason to talk to Mike Tingle at this point, Dusty.

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:40 AM): Anyone else?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:44 AM): Man, NOBODY had their coffee today....

Bruce (2/22/99 9:45 AM): Sometimes you learn more with your mouth closed....but today is a little slow

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:45 AM): There's a great supplement called phenylalanine that compliments coffee very well!

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:46 AM): ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz. This is the pulse of America's future????

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:46 AM): Entered the room.

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:46 AM): It puts dopamine and norepinephrine back that coffee puts into the blood stream.

Bruce (2/22/99 9:47 AM): Much better handle than Soaplady

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:47 AM): sounds like I missed a lot?

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:47 AM): You feel great without feeling wired

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:47 AM): Aha! Louise is here! Louise, who do you use for credit card transactions?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:48 AM): Personally, I like feeling wired.

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:49 AM): What exactly do you mean, who is my provider?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:49 AM): (TEN MINUTE WARNING)

Dusty Green (2/22/99 9:50 AM): What's the best search engine software?

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:51 AM): I process my own CC

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:51 AM): Sitepromoter is not bad, but if you're really serious, I recommend a service like WGI. They are a sponsor of our list and they do a great job.

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:51 AM): Things Do Not work the same here in Canada than in the US, here CC's are only provided through member banks, not 3rd party

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:52 AM): gee, sorry :) did that make sense, Rob?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:52 AM): You can get Sitepromoter form WGI (or go to but the problem is that (A) you have to update the software regularly and (B) different engines have different quirks

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:55 AM): gee, sorry :) did that make sense, Rob?

Bruce (2/22/99 9:55 AM): So Louise do you have a merchant acct with several banks or how do you process orders, eh?

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:57 AM): In Canada, they have started ( really recently) single streaming CC info to be processed through one bank. All I needed was one merchant account; and a visit to a member bank, allowed me to start accepting the other CC's :)

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:57 AM): I call them in through an 800# and the $$ is in my acct within 24 hours

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 9:58 AM): Can anyone recommend an easy inexpensive shopping cart program?

RobFrankel (2/22/99 9:59 AM): (TWO MINUTES)

Dusty Green (2/22/99 10:00 AM): is the cheapest I found

RobFrankel (2/22/99 10:00 AM): Have you tried magpage or netcart? I don't recommend them, because I haven't checked them out thoroughly. But tow of my clients use them. Also, take it to Mike Tingle and ask him what he uses for (boy, am I sending him business today,

Bruce (2/22/99 10:00 AM): Thanks Louise. There is a definite lack of caffeine here this a.m.

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 10:00 AM): thank you Dusty :)

Louise ( Greencottage Soap) (2/22/99 10:01 AM): nah, I am sitting here with my Diet Coke :)

Dusty Green (2/22/99 10:01 AM): Your welcome!

RobFrankel (2/22/99 10:01 AM): Okay, you guys, I've gotta run. But you are most welcome to continue as long as you want. You can also use this site to meet any time you like during the week. See you online!
